Overview
A ground-up ambulatory medical center combining outpatient surgery, oncology infusion, and a 24-hour emergency department on a greenfield campus in northwest Houston.

Challenges & solutions

Gulf Coast wind-load requirements and a high water table drove both the foundation design and the envelope testing regimen. Mock-up walls were pressure-tested on site before production glazing began.
Construction process

Design-build delivery compressed permitting and construction into overlapping phases. Prefabricated exam-room headwalls and multi-trade corridor racks were assembled in a nearby warehouse and trucked in nightly.
